I’m Dominique Fougère, a multi-disciplinary creative person, who has been making visual things for people and for myself for a very long time. I strive to maintain a balanced creative output in the digital and analog realms. I take deep pride in delivering projects with ethical, kind, and pragmatic implementation of human-centered design practices.

For design work, I’ve worked for the last 14 years in both agency and start-up environments on 80+ projects for over 40 clients that span industries such as healthcare, finance, marketing, and gaming. Recently, I worked at Attentive, where I co-managed the design system and reporting products with a stellar cross-functional team.

For analog work, art is integral to myself. I graduated cum laude from Cal Poly Humboldt, with a B.A., Studio Arts in 2008. I’ve happily created many graphic designs over the years- coloring books, zines, packaging specs, custom illustrations, branding + identity kits, presentation decks, tattoo line-work, etc.- but my ride-or-die artistic loves are collage and ceramics.

Currently, I’m investigating the ethics, practicalities, and other unknowns about this new, emerging era of generative technology within digital design and pursuing a master technician’s training in ceramics and studio practices.

I process the exterior and interior worlds through creative making.

I employ highly tactile mediums such as ceramics, collage, and pen-and-ink drawings to visualize emotional landscapes and states of being.

To me, surrealism supersedes realism in its ability to access what feels more truthful and real to me- what is unspoken and what is unseen.

I take inspiration from human anatomy, dream states, minimalist aesthetics, and the intangible, fragmented nature of memory.

With restraint in terms of color, elements, and composition, I focus on high contrast scenes that have a tension between what is in focus and what is blurred.

Curiosity and a comfort with mystery are the only things I ask of viewers to my work.
